Barcelona residents don't want any more tourists

http://qz.com/453560/tourism-is-doing-more-harm-to-barcelona-than-poverty-its-residents-say/ >Locals being priced out by the proliferation of rental apartments for tourists, like AirBnB >Polls show they consider tourism a worse problem than poverty >Tourists over-crowding working-class neighborhoods with noise, drinking and vulgarity >Famous market La Boquería is too crowded to even shop there now (I've personally noticed similar in Pike Market Place in Seattle). How does /trv/ feel about this? On one hand I can sympathize with Barcelona residents that their city is being stolen from them. On the other hand, I find it laughable that they consider affluent tourists a problem while they are importing uneducated and impoverished Africans and Arabs. Their economy would be in the gutter without tourism. For those interested, there is a good Youtube documentary at the bottom of the article about the issue.

I'd to hear differing opinions from people that have been to both countries. Would like to know which country is easier to meet women, which country is easier to teach English without a degree, what is the difference between the culture and people of both countries, etc. I've heard Thailand is advanced. They have good healthcare for Southeast Asia, advanced transportation (Vietnam has no metro), food is better, Thai girls are easier etc. Can anyone concur.

Moving to Oregon

Hello /trv/, In August, my family and I are planning on moving to Oregon. We currently live in Miami, Florida. What's it like to live in Oregon? How are the people? The few that we have met are some of the nicest people we have ever met. Any places we should avoid living in at all costs? Any information is helpful.

Going To Italy and Europe

5 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
So I'm going to Europe for three weeks. I'm starting In southern Italy for a few days (Siderno) to visit gf's family. Then planning on leaving for Almafi, Pompei, Naples, Rome then Florence. We also plan on hitting Iceland before going home for a few days (because they offer cheap flights to my country). Can /trv/ suggest anything to do while in these cities as well as suggest a place to go in between Florence and Iceland. We are thinking of a third country maybe Austria. But aren't sure if there will be time. What do you think?

Hey peeps, I'm 23 from Sydney, Australia. I going to Vegas in August to see vans warped tour. I really want to visit some other states while I am there! Flights are cheap enough anyway. I was hoping I could get some first hand advice on here about where to go/where to avoid? It's hard to find reviews that aren't based on night life only. I was thinking of travelling in this order: Texas > Arizona > Vegas for warped tour > Portland, Oregon (got some senpai that lives there) > LA. I wanted to visit Utah but all I have heard is that it is boring as batshit and full of mormons (no offence to anyone)? I know most places can be dodgy for any girl on their own, but is Arizona relatively safe? I will be travelling by myself everywhere except Vegas most likely. Anyone from Texas on here? I have wanted to go there my entire life.. like so badly you don't understand!! Is Dallas or Houston the better place to be? Are there any other states that I should visit, like New Mexico or Idaho? So I am hoping to visit all these places in a time frame of about 2 weeks... Thanks :)

Hey /trv/ What has been the most mind-blowing city for you fellow travellers? I'll start. I'm from a small nordic country that borders Russia and while I've lived in a ``city'' whole my life, I knew not what to expect when I set my foot in Beijing. The scale of that place blew my mind. Highways stacking on top of each other in the middle of the city, skyscrapers on the horizon literally as far as you can see (the smog limits the visibility a lot), the chaos that is traffic. Metro was as packed as I had seen in those Japanese videos. Went to a beer festival with a colleague and the venue was the atrium of an absolutely huge commercial building still in construction in Sanlitun. The area of Sanlitun when the sun had set was pretty interesting... Gosh darn it was huge. I've been to New York and London, and while they do reign in the richness of culture (tho I'm biased since I don't speak Chinese), they pale in scale. It's the closest thing to a real life ``Blade Runner city'' I've ever seen.

Planning to visit NY in a month or two I'm using an airbnb as a place to stay but what areas do you guys recommend? Or should I just spend the extra $$ for a hotel? I know fuck all about NY except for what I saw in Home Alone 2 so any advice would be greatly appreciated. So far all on my list is to visit certain museums and eat at certain places, all that touristy shit.

Maybe we could try this. ITT: Post a pic of yourself, or a picture you've taken of a land mark or tourist spot and see if other anons have been in the exact same, or close to the same spot. pic from 2012 in London

What's the most dangerous thug that has happened to you or just by you when abroad? Afraid I don't have anything to share, not sure if I'm lucky or just inexperienced, but I do enjoy reading other people's stories.

Japan - 2 Week Itinerary

Going to Japan for 2 weeks in early May. Any suggestions on an itinerary? It would be cool to do a mixture of both touristy and off-the-beaten-path kinda shit.
