So, I'm going to europe for the first time. Wife and I have a business trip to switzerland, we have 3 days on the back end of the trip to do whatever we want. Where should a europe novice go if they only have 3 days? Switzerland's pretty central, at least. Financially we're pretty good, so we can burn some cash if we need to.

I will soon have the opportnity to meet an online friend whom I've known for a long time when travelling abroad. Is there a way to find out whether he likes me or not? I am very curious about this. Another question - he said he wants his brother to come along as his brother studies history and he can show us around the historical areas. It has been weeks and he still hasn't tell his brother about our meeting yet. Is this a red flag?

Is it worth traveling to Faroe Islands? I've always wanted to visit a scandinavian country. My original idea was Iceland but recently I've been leaning more towards F.I. Is there anything worth doing? Seems like a chill place. Has anyone been there? Experiences?

It depends on your itinerary. >http://www.hyperdia.com/en/ Plug your itinerary into Hyperdia to determine ticket costs, then compare to the below JR Pass options: >7 day Pass: 29,110¥ >14 day Pass: 46,390¥ >21 day Pass: 59,350¥ Please check the /trv/ sticky before asking questions. It's filled with links to great resources, many of them specific to Japan travel. Please refer to the old thread while it's still up: >>1119693

What are the restrictions on flying international flight on an ultralight aircraft? Specifically from the states to canada then to Ireland and back? What documentation would you need and where would you have to check in for customs and such?

I've heard some negative things about how French teenagers treat Americans. Anyone have any experience with this?

Refugees on Crete?

Hey! My mom has booked a one week long semester for our family on Crete this summer, Rethymnon specifically. My main concern with this trip is the refugee crisis. Is it true that the islands are flooded with immigrants everywhere and that they sleep on the streets/beaches? Whats the situation? Is it safe to be outside at night? I'm by no means a coward, I'm just worried for the sake of my family.

Always wanted to go to NYC. I will be 21 in June and i will leave a week later 4jul-11jul, so its finnaly becomming true. Planned to go 9 days (7 days actually then) But last minute switched to 8 days (so actually 6 to explore the city) because prices went up Cheapest option was the KLM package deal for 2300, the day before that it was 2450. Booked it Week later, i see the price is 2050. Thats a fucking 250 euro difference. Is there something i can do about it? I heard all sales are final. For the same money i could have gone the 9 days i was planning to do ffs Let me hear your experience

Which do you think is "better": exploring a little bit of a wide range of countries or exploring a smaller amount of countries really in-depth? It seems like a lot of travelers I've met are more into the former, and one's worth is judged mostly by the amount of countries they've been to.

So my relatives want to stay at a fancy beach in California. They want a hotel that's really, really, top of the line fancy. What are some nice beaches in California that have good hotels? So far I can think of >Pismo Beach >San Diego

Next spring I'm travelling from England to North Carolina by a merchant vessel. The journey should take twenty days. I'll be staying in my own cabin on the outside of the ship, in the captain's quarters, with a decent view out to sea. There's no internet connection so i'll mostly be reading and writing. Anyone had any experience doing this? Tips/what to expect? I can watch the captain do his thing up top if I like, and virtually nowhere on the ship is out of bounds. I'm hoping it'll be a small adventure before I reach America.
