/trv/ pretty soon I'm leaving the UK for a month, maybe longer to live in Spartanburg SC. Long story short I made a friend online a couple of years ago and we've been getting on like a house on fire. I've never left Europe in my life and I'm feeling pretty nervous so I have a few questions >What are the Spartanburg / South Carolina locals like? >Would it be sensible to carry a gun? Can i even get a gun being a UK citizen? >How much money should i take? (i have £8.5k saved)

First time on this board. I am planning a road trip from Texas to Montana and back. My priorities are Zion, Yellowstone, and Glacier. The side destinations that i am planning are TX >Perdernales Falls >Colorado Bend >Caprock NM >Carson forest or Santa Fe forest Utah >Glen Canyon >Arches? I will be jumping from park to park and intend to camp for 90% of the nights (I will consider hostel if i find myself in a good town). I will probably travel back down through Yosemite and then across to Colorado. I intend to spend 2 months on the road and i think i would like to take a kayak and mountain bike with me. Are there any activities in this area that you would consider a must see in any of these states. (Note, I WILL skip Grand Canyon) Also, I will be by myself for the entirety of this trip, does anybody have any experiences/recommendations for how to survive a 2 month backpack/road trip on your lonesome? (both physically and mentally)

I was looking at travelling to either of these countries and wanted some advice for anyone whose been or knows about these two countries. I will be going with a friend and was looking for somewhere that we would be able to go out at night as well as do a lot of adventurous stuff. Stuff like trekking, any water sports, quad biking, camel riding if possible. Also somewhere where the food is nice and the people are relaxed and friendly. I went to Morocco and did not like the constant hassling from the natives to buy their stuff. Any advice? Thanks in advance

In couple of months I begin my around-the-world trip. I leave from Barcelona to Asia to begin with, but I really don't know how to reach India. Pakistan seems tricky, and I need an invitation card from a local to get in, and the other way its through Kazakhstan, China and Nepal, but thats around 5.000km longer. What do, /trv/?

What occupations provide the most ability to travel? As in, the most flexibility and leisure time, while still getting payed (no matter how little)? Is it freelancing? Being a National Geographic corespondent? What about volunteering with payed accommodation and some food? Has anyone here done this before? Any organizations that sponsor this?

I will do interrail. Chose the 15 out of 30 days, wich basically means that you can use 15 days out of the 30 to travel with train. Where should I go, after Paris? In Paris i will have about 20 days left...

You walk onto your plane, find your seat and see that the person in the seat next to you is overweight to the point that they are spilling into your seat. What do you do?

New Japan General As always, feel free to ask about: >Traveling to Japan >Living in Japan >Teaching in Japan >Joining the Yakuza >Getting your weeb fantasies crushed *Info on prostitution* >http://rockitreports.com/category/sex-in-tokyo/ >http://erolin.net/ *Note about the JR Rail Pass* Many people ask about whether or not the JR Rail Pass is worth it. It depends on your itinerary. >http://www.hyperdia.com/en/ Plug your itinerary into Hyperdia to determine ticket costs, then compare to the below JR Pass options: >7 day Pass: 29,110¥ >14 day Pass: 46,390¥ >21 day Pass: 59,350¥ Please check the /trv/ sticky before asking questions. It's filled with links to great resources, many of them specific to Japan travel. Please refer to the old thread while it's still up: >>1124991

Alright trv, you've never given me a bum steer. So I come to you for sage advice once again. My sister and I will be traveling to Italy at the end of August. First time traveling overseas, we're landing in Venice, probably going to book a hotel there, and we'll be staying for eight days. She has no specifics she wants to see or do, but she wants to travel to Florence, Milan, and San Marino. I really want to explore as much as possible, so I want to know what traveling to Italy is like. How bad is the language barrier? If we're traveling to those four cities, will public trans cover it or should we rent a car? Must-try foods, and must-avoids, if any? Thanks for your help, as always!

Hey there, friendo. I'm going to visit Amsterdam in a couple of weeks, and I was wondering if there was anywhere inparticular you were impressed with if you went there. I am looking to smoke a lot of weed, so if there's a specific place that's for that, let me know. As well as that, I'll be heading to the dungeons, and the heineken factory; but if there's anywhere that's as good, please let me know. Thank you, you'd be a great help. I can help you with your programming homework if you want(pretty much my only skill) in exchange for help on touristy stuff. TL;DR: WHERE TO GO IN AMSTERDAM?!?

Hi, Im a 25 year old Canadian male currently in London England till Sunday morning. I'm with my parents who are here on business. Would you guys have any recommendations for a young caucasian male to go out solo at night? I dont mind partying, drinking, electronic music and that scene, however, Im also interested in soccer, meeting new people, exploring cool and interesting places. Do you guys have any recommendations as to where I might go and meet open-minded people with similar interests? Thanks

What type of computer should I bring on my travels abroad? It will mainly be for researching things to do, places to eat, and booking airbnb/hostels/hotels, and storing photos. Maybe some media consumption on the trains if I have wi-fi around. I was thinking a cheap chromebook might work well, or could I do this all on a smartphone? What about a tablet? Keyboard+tablet?
