What You Pack General

I just had a nice long post that I managed to fuck up and I dont remember how I started it. Anyway, I'm going on a Two month Trip. my first trip ever, next week through Western Europe, and doing a Final inventory for my Bag before I zip it up and place next to the door ready for me to leave. I would like to know what everyone else brings on their trips and a rating of my Bag Currently. If I may have missed anything Vital, or something I can take out so I'm not carrying a Thousand lbs of nothing I need. For reference, I have the Osprey Fairpoint 10 with the Daybag. I also do Parkour which is why I have so many shoes In the main bag: 2 Pairs of Shoes 7 Pairs of Underwear 5 Pairs of Socks 4 Pairs of Sweatpants 1 Long Shirt 4 Normal Shirts Sleeping Bag Camelpak Lacrosse Ball (For Streching and Rolling out the muscles) Toiletries (Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Deoderant, Super Duper Fast Drying Towel, nail clippers) In the Daybag, I will have: A Small Jacket Notebook and Pens Two Playing Cards (I'm also a Magician) Phonecharger/Headphones Wallet/Passport ID All my Papers regarding the trip. (Confirmation Emails and the such) I guess then add one more in terms of all clothing and a pair of shoes How does this sound? Anything you would add or remove? What do you bring, and any last minute advice that this board may not have been able to prepare me for?

Nice

Okay so I was meant to be going to Nice next week for 8 days. Now after recent events I'm not sure if I want to go, is the holiday company entitled to refund you due to terrorism? Or am I going to lose out/have to go and get killed by ISIS? Best case scenario would be if they let me swap destination. I'm a pretty anxious person as it is and don't think I'll be able to have a nice relaxing holiday with armed police everywhere. What would /trv/ do?

Cell phone while in Japan

3 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
Hi /trv/, I will be studying abroad in Japan for 4 months this fall, and I'm wondering what I should do for a cell phone that won't get me destroyed by international roaming costs. I could really use some guidance from more experienced travelers because it seems impossible to find a straight answer on this subject online. > Bring my phone with me, get a Japanese SIM card and put that into my U.S. phone > Buy/rent a Japanese phone while there Any other options or opinions on what will be the least expensive for a 4 month span? My service provider is Sprint if that has any relevance.

Anyone ever traveled to Cuba before? Heading over with my girlfriend and her sister in a couple of weeks time and I pretty much know nothing about it. Girlfriends sister said it was a fun time though.

Would I have any issues traveling in Finland as a black American? I hav traveled to Norway, and had no issues, it was an advantage if anything. But Finland seems a different, odder, beast than Scandinavia. I'd chiefly be visiting a friend who will be an Asian expat there for work. She's been to Sweden, also without issue, but not Finland.

Learning Spanish

I am from Australia. Is it possible for me to learn to speak Spanish fluently (maybe above B2 in terms of CEFR) without relocating to a Hispanic country?

I am debating whether I should take a week long cruise to Caribbean or take bagpack trip to Puerto Rico for one week. I never have been to Central America before, so I am looking forward to explore around. I want your opinion. Would you a) Take a cruise to Caribbean for a week or b) Improvise your own plan and explore Puerto Rico? I am beginning to lean toward option b) BTW, has any of you been to Puerto Rico before? Any recommendation? Places to avoid? Places to check out?

Hey /trv/ Whats Naples Italy like? I'm in the US military and recently found out that I'm going to be stationed there for a few years. From my internet research I've figured out it has good pizza, dirty streets, and criminals. I know that there has to be a few of you who have been there and can tell me a bit more about it. Kind of vague but any info on the city would be much appreciated, thank you

Travelling Ireland

I'm planning on spending a few months travelling Ireland with my GF. What are the best places for us to visit? I'm not so interested in the cities, but will be stopping in Dublin and Galway. Is it expensive? We plan on staying in hostels or camping whenever we can. Looking at a budget of around £30 a day for travel, accomodation and food, though we will cook and make most food ourselves. It's our first time backpacking so it's going to be a big learning experience, any help would be great

can we just agree that sex tourism and questions relating to sex tourism should belong in their own thread? every thread there are four or five people asking how to get laid, if hookers are clean, if the hookers are good looking etc just stop, it's unwelcome

New Japan General As always, feel free to ask about: >Traveling to Japan >Living in Japan >Teaching in Japan >Joining the Yakuza >Getting your weeb fantasies crushed *Info on prostitution* >http://rockitreports.com/category/sex-in-tokyo/ >http://erolin.net/ *Note about the JR Rail Pass* Many people ask about whether or not the JR Rail Pass is worth it. It depends on your itinerary. >http://www.hyperdia.com/en/ Plug your itinerary into Hyperdia to determine ticket costs, then compare to the below JR Pass options: >7 day Pass: 29,110¥ >14 day Pass: 46,390¥ >21 day Pass: 59,350¥ Please check the /trv/ sticky before asking questions. It's filled with links to great resources, many of them specific to Japan travel. Please refer to the old thread while it's still up: >>1136908

How do you find people to travel with? There's so many trips I want to take and so many places I want to visit but I'm tired of doing so on my own. I've traveled all over Western and Eastern Europe as well as North America but I've only done so solo. I'd like someone I can cut costs with, plan trips together, share adventures and knowledge with, provide company to, actually do things with, etc. Meeting people in hostels is okay if you want to walk around aimlessly through the city together and then forget about them forever once you leave but other than that it's no good. All of my friends either have no interest in traveling, have no money to travel, or only care about flying to some exotic place just to get drunk. How do I find people who are actually open to genuinely experiencing traveling and not just want to stay in the hostel bed until 1pm and then get drunk every other night until they eventually pass out at 4am? Is there a website where you can meet other travelers? Hell, I'd even be open to meeting other people from /trv/ to see things with. I literally don't know where else to look and find someone I can journey with.

I have a seven hour layover in Amsterdam. Anyone familiar with how far the hubs are from the airport? Anything niche that I might miss looking around online (in reference to food, sights, etc.)? I don't have any interest in legal marijuana.

Is American Airlines safe? I want to travel by Air Canada because of it's safety ratings but a ticket to Tokyo will cost me $1,500 while a ticket with American Airlines will cost me $1,200. Should I go with AA even though it's not as safe as AC?

Algeria

Hi /trv/, I was summing all travels I could do in my life and I was amazed of how potential cool things this country could offer. But, at the same time, I found weird I have never seen any Algerian thread in /trv/ as long as I remember. What do you think of Algeria, /trv/?
