Hey everyone, I'm completely new to /trv/, so if I say something wrong or whatever forgive my lack of lurking. So I'm from USA, I'm currently a freshman in college, studying mathematics (in case anyone cared). I plan on working for a few years and then take a year off to be a wanderer or vagabond if you will. I saw the websites about this, but I'm more interested in tips from those experienced, best places to wander, and anything else. I'm willing to go abroad but I only can speak English, so that does bind me. Thanks a lot guys.

I know this question gets ask alot, I am backpacking with a 70L pack through China.
What to pack?
3 pairs of socks
7 pairs of undies
Comfy shoes, going out shoes and a pair of thongs
Laptop, Mobile and a Zune
It's never winter here and doesn't drop below 28C, so winter clothes are expensive. I fit into a Large-Medium size clothing and 200cm tall, do you reckon they have clothes my size?
Very specific location question--Malang, E. Java, Indonesia?

I may have to go to Malang, East Java, Indonesia (pic evidently related) for work for a few days. Anyone ever been there? Interested in sites to see in or very near the city itself, since I'm not on vacation and won't have a lot of free time. I've been to Indonesia once before, but only to Bali and Jakarta. Thanks in advance for
>Don't go, go to Surabaya instead, go to Bali, etc.,
but it's really not relevant here. If I go, I have to go there, and I won't have more than a couple of days of free time at the most.

First timer here in /trv/, I know you all have probably heard my questions before, but I thought I'd ask them. In June I'm heading to England for the first time. Just need to find a place to stay, and plan where to go, and the whatnot. Now, my questions are what are some good places to stop by and visit, besides the obvious places haha. Any good, and recommended places to stay? Anything going on in the Summer around time that would be cool to go to? Thanks in advance! I'm sure I'll have more questions!

Hello /trv/! Somewhat experienced traveller here, I was hopping to get some varied opinions on my upcoming summer trip to Europe. So, here is the itinerary: Arrival in Paris form Montreal, Brussels, Amsterdam, Dresden, Prague, Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest, Bucharest, Zagreb, Venice, Zurich, Munich, Mannheim, Valencia, Barcelona and departure from Paris back to Montreal.
Other miscellaneous information concerning my trip: we will be four guys aged 19 and 20, two of us are veteran travellers with EU passports the other two are going to be under our wing since it will be their first time outside of Canada. We plan to haul all our stuff around in backpacks, I have a 125L MEC, and will be bedding down in various youth hostels. We will be travelling for two months, arrival on the 25 of May and departure on the 25 of July. We aren't going to do much of Germany since, the other traveller and I covered it quite well two summers ago in our first backpacking trip (pic related).
All in all, just looking for some tips, tricks and sights to see in any of the above destinations, or any other city in the respective countries as we will be doing much of the real decision making once on the ground and specific locations are subject to much change.

First time traveling to a "OH FUCK MALARIA EVERYWHERE!!!!" area (Accra, Ghana, for a long week in early March.)
Anti malarial precautions and drugs -- your advice solicited. Particularly want to hear your thought on the drugs -- there seem to be a couple of choices, all with potential side effects, anybody with experience using them (positive, negative or neutral) I'd love to hear from you.
Got an ass-load of DEET, will wear long pants and shirts especially around dawn/dusk when out.
Is a mosquito net for the bed overkill, or just good common sense?
