Hey, going to Switzerland in the summer and I was wondering what I could bring there that they don't have, and what some suggestions are to bring back home from Switzerland.

How to ask

What country are you from and what is the best way to ask? I am not one to ask even at home but some new slang form where you are would be cool.

Hey hey /trv/ So I am hitting Thailand/Cambodia for the first time in about a month. Me and the GF have 3 weeks to kill, and I need to plan ahead a little (although I generally don't like too much planning on there trips). I need some advice on funky, "off-the-beaten-track", island accommodation options. Not the regular, crowded touristy spots you find advertised everywhere. Any help would be much loved...

checked baggage

Hey /trv/, I'm going to live in Ghana for a few months, and I'm going to be packing some medication (basic stuff like immodium) in my checked baggage. Are there any rules as to how I have to pack this? I haven't really been able to find anything about this, and I don't want to get in trouble at the airport. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey everyone, I'm completely new to /trv/, so if I say something wrong or whatever forgive my lack of lurking. So I'm from USA, I'm currently a freshman in college, studying mathematics (in case anyone cared). I plan on working for a few years and then take a year off to be a wanderer or vagabond if you will. I saw the websites about this, but I'm more interested in tips from those experienced, best places to wander, and anything else. I'm willing to go abroad but I only can speak English, so that does bind me. Thanks a lot guys.

Hello everyone. I am considering moving to Arizona because progunz and desert. Every time I've visited the state I find myself enamored by the atmosphere, the wide open space and slow pace beyond the city. It feels somewhat nostalgic. Anyway, can you guys give me some info on residential areas, survival tips, general information or any insight into the state at all? Much appreciated.

Fucking airlines. How do they work?

I was looking tickets to New York via United Airlines and they were at around 600 USD for a non-stop round trip. A decent price I thought. However when I checked their page the day after, the price had increased to around 750 USD. Seriously, how is this possible? Why would they increase the price so quickly and for such a high rate? Is the flight already getting fully booked or is it just some kind of market strategy? Is there a chance they might lower the price again later on? I sure as hell ain't buying tickets for that price.

Very specific location question--Malang, E. Java, Indonesia?

I may have to go to Malang, East Java, Indonesia (pic evidently related) for work for a few days. Anyone ever been there? Interested in sites to see in or very near the city itself, since I'm not on vacation and won't have a lot of free time. I've been to Indonesia once before, but only to Bali and Jakarta. Thanks in advance for >Don't go, go to Surabaya instead, go to Bali, etc., but it's really not relevant here. If I go, I have to go there, and I won't have more than a couple of days of free time at the most.

First timer here in /trv/, I know you all have probably heard my questions before, but I thought I'd ask them. In June I'm heading to England for the first time. Just need to find a place to stay, and plan where to go, and the whatnot. Now, my questions are what are some good places to stop by and visit, besides the obvious places haha. Any good, and recommended places to stay? Anything going on in the Summer around time that would be cool to go to? Thanks in advance! I'm sure I'll have more questions!

Hello /trv/! Somewhat experienced traveller here, I was hopping to get some varied opinions on my upcoming summer trip to Europe. So, here is the itinerary: Arrival in Paris form Montreal, Brussels, Amsterdam, Dresden, Prague, Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest, Bucharest, Zagreb, Venice, Zurich, Munich, Mannheim, Valencia, Barcelona and departure from Paris back to Montreal. Other miscellaneous information concerning my trip: we will be four guys aged 19 and 20, two of us are veteran travellers with EU passports the other two are going to be under our wing since it will be their first time outside of Canada. We plan to haul all our stuff around in backpacks, I have a 125L MEC, and will be bedding down in various youth hostels. We will be travelling for two months, arrival on the 25 of May and departure on the 25 of July. We aren't going to do much of Germany since, the other traveller and I covered it quite well two summers ago in our first backpacking trip (pic related). All in all, just looking for some tips, tricks and sights to see in any of the above destinations, or any other city in the respective countries as we will be doing much of the real decision making once on the ground and specific locations are subject to much change.
