>Be me >Have 8 - 9 days for solo vacation in February Would /trv/ recommend traveling to Ireland (mainly Dublin?) or Britain (mainly London) during February? Also, how do I avoid being a social autist and get a group of friends while staying in a hostel?

I'm moving to Pittsburgh in January to do a PhD at UPitt. I'm late 20s single male and trying to figure out where to live. I'm thinking either Oakland area for "campus-style" life or Downtown for "city" life. What should I do? Any recommendations for 1br/studio apartments? Also general Pittsburgh thread I guess

Buying a bike while traveling? What countries are bike friendly ? I would like to bicycle around in the third world but I am not a serious cyclist. I would take trains and buses for the longer treks . I know that in some places you can take a bike on a train or ferry. How realistic an idea is this for say SEA or south america ?

What can a solo traveler do in Northern Ireland?

I'm a 25 year old American and I would like to travel to Northern Ireland next year during winter. I'm genuinely interested in the Troubles and other history from the area. Overall I have around a week, possibly longer. However, I also realize it is also somewhat dull and less touristy than many other more popular cities in the Republic of Ireland. Therefore I am wondering if it is worth visiting for a week -- as I had been thinking about -- or for just maybe 2 or 3 days with the rest in Dublin or somewhere else in the Republic? Places I have in mind: >Belfast Titanic Museum Troubles Murals/Black Cab Tour/other Troubles related stuff Crumlin Road Gaol City Hall Stormont St. George's Market [anything else?] >Derry Troubles Murals Old City Walls ??? What else ??? >Misc. if I meet other people in a hostel into this stuff The Giants Causeway Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge The Gobbins Dark Hedges I'm open to any and all suggestions, especially stuff related to history and the Troubles. I would definitely like to see Belfast, and if that works out well, Derry seems like it would be good too. Are there any other good cities worth visiting? Furthermore, are there people on /trv/ who have visited Belfast/Derry and stayed in a hostel? I am hoping to meet friendly people in a hostel and go to different places with them...is there a decent hostel crowd in those cities?

Are there any other places except California with Vietnamese coffee shop girls?

Is there any other state/area in the usa with Vietnamese cafes? They give you coffee and tea for $5, you can smoke inside the building, use their wifi, buy lotto and play poker, while looking at 9/10 vietnamese, or latinas. What other state has this (they are day time places, not stripclubs).

Anyone travel to find wife/girlfriend? I am tired of paying for whores... I want an attractive monogamous partner. I like asians, latinas, whites, and blacks (who dont act black). Is phillipines the best by far, or is china better for petite hot women?

What would you do, or where would you go if you were with me? 22 years old. Job only requires to work 4 months per year. Making $10k/month clear after taxes/expenses during that time. Have been traveling consistently since 18, so desire to settle down is slowly creeping up but I'm already lazy and bitter. I'm happy with where I am in my career and have given up on the idea of accomplishing more (aside from normal career progression which will set me at about $15k/month clear in about 10 years). I just want to work my 4 months every year, and be retired in some place that's warm all year, cheap as fuck (support myself on $40k for the 8 months I'm off), lots of girls and things to do, and preferably a up and coming economy as I know I'll eventually get bored and want to invest or start a business.

Travel pics -- temples, ceremonies and holy or spiritual places

Travel pics thread -- let's try a theme. Spiritual sites, ceremonies, great religious architecture, and the like. The dome of St/ Peter's Basilica, the Vatican. I am not Catholic, but that was one of the most awe-inspiring (in the literal sense) places I have ever been. The scale of the place is just overwhelming.

Okay guys, I've fucked up. I've managed to lose/destroy all of my bank cards. Somehow I have survived with 700 euros cash for the last month waiting for a card to reach me. Twice I have waited the 7-10 business days only for the card to reach my home and then have to start the process over because it was lost in the mail on the way to Europe or because my bank won't release the card to anyone besides myself since initially I ordered it to my local bank branch. So now I will expedite the delivery of the card hopefully one last time, but must survive in Berlin for the next week with 40 euros. I have a german girl I have met who I am staying with, but its only a matter of time until she realises I am a bum and kicks me out. Anyone have suggestions for survival during this next week? Anything from best bridges to sleep under, to venues where I can bum fight for money, etc. Is woofing in Germany on such short notice possible? Also my brother is passing through Guam tomorrow and will have a few hours at the airport and said he can try and send me some money through a wire transfer kiosk. With that said, do airports typically have places to transfer money ie western union, money gram?

Italy---South Im looking for opinions on southern Italy regions. I have spent time in Calabria, with family that I have there, but am interested in other areas. Specifically, if I (a 30 year old man) was bringing a girlfriend to Southern Italy, is Sicily a good option? or Puglia? I like art and nightlife.. younger crowds and beaches.....Any Italians out there want to weigh in?

Posting from Manali in Himachal Pradesh. This is my seventh time in India. I lived in Delhi for about a year and a half and will be back in the city on Sunday. Feel free to ask whatever questions you'd like - if I don't have an answer, I'm sure another /trv/eler will. Made these threads a handful of times in the past and always had a blast with them. Poo-posters are not welcome. Pic related - rented a bike for a couple of days to explore the mountains.

Hi, I'm having some thoughts about visa issues/passport stamps and thinking that multiple passports may be able to help me with this issue. Essentially I want to visit Iran, but as of Dec 2015 this means that I will be no longer eligible for a USA ESTA or VWP. This is a massive ballache and something I want to avoid. My country (IRE) allows me to hold two passports at one time, and I'm also eligible for a UK passport, so getting a second one is not a big issue for me. What I want to know is this; will there be any way that USA border control will know I have visited Iran if I only get the stamp on one of my passports (and use the other one). Is there some electronic register of what countries you have visited? Or is it solely the stamps in your passport that gives them this information. I guess this is also relevant to Israel stamps and getting into Arab countries - does anyone have any experiences to share? Cheers.
