USA Road Trip

I'm a 27yr old bloke from Australia looking at doing my first trip to America. I'm keen to do a road trip, and am planning on the West Coast. I have some friends in Phoenix AZ that I want to spend some time with, and I'd like to be able to socialize and meet people as I go. I've mapped out generally how I'd like to go about the trip. I'm just not sure how long I should be spending in each area, or if there's anything I should skip/add. This is what I've got: >Phoenix for a couple days with friends >Fly to San Diego to start the road trip, to save driving the shit trip through the desert. >Day trip to Mexico to start things off >LA for 3 nights >Santa Barbara 1 night >Big Sur 1 night >Santa Cruz 1 night >San Francisco 3 nights >Yosemite National Park 2 nights >Lone Pine 1 night >Las Vegas 2 nights Then maybe somehow check out the Grand Canyon while headed back to Phoenix for a few nights with friends to finish off the trip. All up about a 3 week trip. Not sure if I should try for a bit longer, if I'm not spending enough time in each place? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Hello /trv/! I've perused this board for some time now. Answering questions when I could. Now I have one. I'm headed to San Diego in mid December for 4 nights. What can't I miss? Best restaurants or local dish? Any help would be great. Thanks.

New Japan General As always, feel free to ask about: >Traveling to Japan >Living in Japan >Teaching in Japan >Joining the Yakuza >Getting your weeb fantasies crushed *Info on prostitution* >http://rockitreports.com/category/sex-in-tokyo/ >http://erolin.net/ *Note about the JR Pass* Many people ask about whether or not the JR Rail Pass is worth it. It depends on your itinerary. >http://www.hyperdia.com/en/ Plug your itinerary into Hyperdia to determine ticket costs, then compare to the below JR Pass options: >7 day Pass: 29,110¥ >14 day Pass: 46,390¥ >21 day Pass: 59,350¥ Please check the /trv/ sticky before asking questions. It's filled with links to great resources, many of them specific to Japan travel. Please refer to the old thread while it's still up: >>1180121

People who use carry on bags only: What do you use, and have you been able to take them on budget airlines without problems, or do you pay extra? Is it even worth getting a smaller bag to skirt around extra costs? Right now I have an eBags Weekender (largest size to still count as a carry on) and it was great over the summer back and forth to Europe, but I'm not sure it would work with budget airlines such as Norwegian or WOW unless I want to pay extra. Therefore I'm looking for suggestions that might be a bit smaller. Typical dimensions (what I currently have now): 56x45x25 / 22x9x14 inches Norwegian: 55x40x23cm / 21.5x15.5x9 inches (why is this just barely different? WOW: 42 x 32 x 25 cm / 16 x 12 x 10 inches (is this realistic?)

So I won a stack of money off the US Election and now I really don't know what to do with it. I know that i'm not happy staying in a shitty office job where I work for 5 days just to live for 2 so i'm thinking about giving up all my worldly possessions and fucking off to a tropical island. So let's say, for whatever reason, you've got $15000 AUD in your account and you have no commitments keeping you down. How would one go about preparing for life on a Pacific island, say, Vanuatu? Anyone have any experiences living in a place like this before?

For those of you who aren't hopeless autists, what is the attitude/impression you've gotten from whores about how they perceive you, the man paying to fuck them? Do you get a bunch of fake icing that they're into you but notice little looks and crumplings of their noses revealing their actually revulsed or disgusted? Or is it as matter-of-fact as getting a massage or something but with fucking instead of a back rub? Asking because -strongly- considering trip to Amsterdam/FKK Germany/Thailand and want to know. Have never fucked a whore before, no idea what to expect. Also which is best and how are the girls different? Friend of a friend went in Amsterdam after getting high, beta guy kinda aspie, said room was dirty, big thug stood guard outside, girl was older than she initially looked, ordered him around, laid down the law about what he couldn't do, he couldn't get hard as a result. Sounded horrible.

Considering going to the British Isles over the summer for a week or 2. I've always wanted to go to Scotland and Ireland and I have some friends in London that I want to visit. Any tips on places I should stay/visit? I'm on a bit of a tight budget, so any cheap options would be just fine.

Fisterra, Galicia

I've got 3 days in Galicia on my hands. I'm thinking two days in Santiago de Compostela and one in Fisterra. Question is: has anyone been to Fisterra in the winter? I've heard it basically shuts down. Is it worth staying the night if I go, or should I climb the cape, watch the sunset, and then split?

guatemala

found a sort of cheap flight to Guatemala. Kinda want to go but a bit scared of being mugged or worse. Did some research, and it seems violent crimes against tourists are not uncommon. Yet there appears to be quite a lot of tourism - without armed guards. should i go ? I'm quite well-travelled and speak spanish, but this seems like it'd be the most risky destination for me so far.

Holiday in Thailand

So I am flying into phuket on the 29th of December. Spending 20 Days in Thailand. I have just booked for a weeks stay in bed hostel in phuket near patong beach. Other than that I havent planned where we are going next and am still trying to do some research. Its just my girlfriend and I and we are both students so we are on a bit of a budget. Any of you been to Thailand, that could perhaps recommend certain areas or just any advice in general?

arriving 72 minutes before departure. Norwegian.

Some boring airport questions coming up. So arriving at Manchester ( UK ) airport on a weekday lunchtime in January by train. With 72 minutes before boarding for a European flight with Norwegian and only hand luggage. I've never waited more than 30 minutes through security at any airport, but I've never been by Manchester before. So my questions are in two parts. Norwegian say that the boarding gate closes 30 minutes(!!!) before departure, which to me is rather extreme. Can I assume this is not actually the case and that I could quite easily roll up 15 minutes before departure and just join the end of the queue? How strictly is this enforced? Will they give me a last call if I am held up for whatever reason? Security shouldn't take more than 30 minutes at this time of year and day right? Outside of school holiday season??? And finally. Norwegian say that you can do online checkin and they'll send you an SMS with your boarding pass 2 hours before departure which you can use on your phone, and that it's not possible to do like Ryanair and print your boarding pass out at home ( which would be much easier ). Has anybody used this system, does it work? Do I need mobile data for this? Anyway what are my chances, unnecessarily long and stupid post. Sorry.

2 hours in Munich

0 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
Hi guys, I'll be in Munich on my own for about 2 hours this evening (business trip). I've never been there. I was wondering what the best place to spend those 2 hours would be? What's the not-to-miss tourist spot? Would I spend 2 hours in Marienplatz & checking out the Rathaus? It seems impressive, but not a place you would spend much time. Are there any landmarks close by that are worth it? Thanks
