Hey travel, long story short; I live in Japan, it fucking blows. PPAP is what passes for quality entertainment, the national passtime is jumping infront of trains and recreational drug use is tightly controlled. Coincidence? suck my dick.
Anyway, I need somewhere I can pack up and go for a long weekend to smoke some ganja whenever the feeling takes me. Somewhere close, cheap and safe. Before I free some drones from their shells...

Why do I get sick/unwell when I travel?
Not even from going abroad or eating foreign foods or something like that, twice now when I've traveled far to large cities within my home country I've gotten unwell upon or during arrival for unknown reasons.
I lose my appetite, get an upset stomach, get very tired and mopey, and sensitive to the air/smells in places like restaurants (or buildings in general) to a point of getting nauseated. I haven't gotten physically sick in years and I even got a sore throat this time. My "symptoms" almost disappear (except the sore throat) when I get to rest in the hotel room, but return in 10 minutes when I leave.
On the 8 hour car journey home I practically got better and better the closer I got to home.
Is this some sort of travel related anxiety? I'm not a traveled guy so I don't have much experience. Has anyone else experienced something like this? I just don't get it.

*Note about the JR Pass*
Many people ask about whether or not the JR Rail Pass is worth it. It depends on your itinerary.
Plug your itinerary into Hyperdia to determine ticket costs, then compare to the below JR Pass options:
>7 day Pass: 29,110¥
>14 day Pass: 46,390¥
>21 day Pass: 59,350¥
Please check the /trv/ sticky before asking questions. It's filled with links to great resources, many of them specific to Japan travel.
