Father passed and he left me a 67 shelby mustang. I am going to be living in Japan in two months and will be there for 4+ years. Anyone know how to import a vehicle there and have it be street legal? I am concerned on a number of levels that the Mustang won't pass a slew of tests being that it is both American and old. Advice? Experience? Loop holes?

Anyone ever travel by sail? I've always wanted to crew on a boat to travel to various islands, but alas, I don't own a boat or know anyone with a boat.

Can we get a currency thread going? I like to travel to places where the dollar has gotten stronger The canadian dollar was forecast to drop to .65 this summer so I have been waiting to take an RV trip up there. What other places are travel bargains for americans this year? Maybe south america? SEA keeps getting stronger so I think I will wait on that trip. Anyone else take this into account for their travel plans?

Had a spur of the moment thought of visiting Hanoi in June (yes, I know it's hot). What's fun over there? I think I'll mostly want to check out museums, street food, cheap massages/spas (not the happy ending sort) cheap beer, and maybe take day trips out of town on a rented motorbike. Are there non-extortionate shooting ranges around?

NYC - Experiences

I'm very well travelled, just got back from Central Asia (Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Mongolia) a few weeks ago. I enjoy doing all the tourist type stuff in more exotic places and I'm visiting NYC for the 5th time but never bothered doing any of the tourist stuff there. My mates got a new apartment in Manhattan a few blocks from Time Square and I'm hoping to see and experience something which is only found in NYC. Any ideas? I can't be bothered with Statue of Liberty or any of that rubbish, seen it for years on TV in HD and it's never going to be as good in person. Any ideas? The more alternative the better - I'm from the UK if that helps.

I'm 18 years old and want to go here really badly but only have $2,000 saved up. Can I make this work, I can bring friends and have 4 months off before I start college to get some more money together. Worst comes to worst I can sell my car (which I won't need where I'm going) and get another 4-5k. Any recommendations on what I should do or how to get around. How dangerous is this country? Can I travel there with only a little over $2,000? I've posted this here before because I'm a little wishy washy on the whole thing, any advice would be appreciated.

New Japan General As always, feel free to ask about: >Traveling to Japan >Living in Japan >Teaching in Japan >Joining the Yakuza >Getting your weeb fantasies crushed *Info on prostitution* >http://rockitreports.com/category/sex-in-tokyo/ >http://erolin.net/ >http://rockitrisingsun.com/ *Note about the JR Pass* Many people ask about whether or not the JR Rail Pass is worth it. It depends on your itinerary. >http://www.hyperdia.com/en/ Plug your itinerary into Hyperdia to determine ticket costs, then compare to the below JR Pass options: >7 day Pass: 29,110¥ >14 day Pass: 46,390¥ >21 day Pass: 59,350¥ Please check the /trv/ sticky before asking questions. It's filled with links to great resources, many of them specific to Japan travel. Please refer to the old thread while it's still up: >>1238175

/trv/ I'm going to Paris for a few days and I want to do something that's off the beaten path. Do you have any suggestions? Ideally I'd like to get rooftop access somewhere in the city. Other then that what are some nice hideaway spots or nightlife areas and anything that you've heard of experienced where there's not 1000 other people. I'll be a with a French speaker. Thanks.

Has anyone here ever done a contiki tour? I did the ski one in Austria, it was okay but ofc it was mostly just on the mountain. I'm thinking about doing the tour to the Balkans. Could I do my own Balkans tour better? This trip is 2 weeks and only like 2grand Canadian dollors. Opinion on contiki and other your companies thread

So i'll be moving from Australia to the UK in about a month, got my passport sorted, a friend's couch to crash on for starters and maybe even a job lined up. I've never been on a flight this long so tell me: what the hell do I do for 21 hours in the air? My laptop only lasts about 1.5 hours off charge and my phone will last a little longer again but I don't know what i'll do other than twiddling my thumbs at this stage. Even if I get to sleep for a while (I suck ass at sleeping on planes) i'm still left with tons of downtime. What keeps /trv/ entertained on it's long flights?
