Hey, can we have a thread talking about traveling in politically unstable and potentially dangerous countries?
I see myself making a trip to Zimbabwe sometime in the future to do research about the colonial past, Rhodesia, and the whole Mugabe area. Unfortunately it's illegal to criticize the government and the ZANU-PF (Mugabe's party) is known for regularly kicking the shit out of anyone who even votes against them. They way I see it I'll be able to go to Zimbabwe once before I get put on a travel ban when I publish something, but what kinds of things will I have to worry about while I'm there? Wikitravel says that Zimbabwe is generally safe for travel, but I'm also reading a lot of stories about torture and kidnapping and shit, though that is mostly political and not against tourists. I just don't want to be mistaken for a white farmer or some shit.
Have you ever been to an unstable country or any sort of similar situation?

Hi, i'm French and I go to London for 2 weeks in January
Except that I will not take an hotel, I'll try to sleep in british homes.
So I am looking for British who live in London and can be able to put me up the weeks of 13 and 20 January.
I'm friendly, nice, I make not ashamed, I know how to behave well, I kiss very well and I know how to do the dishes.
I smoke by cons and I can have weeds also for those who smoke too.

I'm leaving in a week for a 12 day stay in Chennai, India for a major college debate tournament. I've never been outside the US aside from a brief trip to Toronto and a Caribbean cruise. I have been all over the USA extensively, however.
I'm 21, and the only other person with me on the trip will be 19.
Any advice for a first time trip to India? I've got vaccines (hep a, b, typhoid) and malaria pills. Since I've got the hep B vaccine, im considering having protected sex with an Indian chick or fucking someone at the debate tournament.
You guys ever been to Chennai? Things to do, places to go, etc?
We aren't going to leave the city, as we have obligations at the tournament. I know I'm going to have diarrhea at some point, but I'm bringing a ton of generic medicine to try and make it not as bad. I'd like to have as good of a time as possible while staying safe.
