>In October, Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy said there’s nothing she’d like more than to see a woman direct one of the upcoming Star Wars movies. Now, her current Star Wars: The Force Awakens director, J.J. Abrams, has weighed in with one filmmaker he’d like to see enlisted for the gig.
>“One name that immediately comes to mind is Ava DuVernay, who I thought did just a mind-blowingly great job with Selma,” Abrams told Yahoo Movies (watch above). “And getting to know her a little since that movie… she is such a fan of genre films and storytelling.”
>Abrams added that there are many qualified candidates who fit the bill (just see Vulture’s recent list of 100 female directors who Hollywood should be hiring more), but that the 43-year-old DuVernay is his “knee-jerk reaction, because she loves the world so much and loves this genre and is such a talented storyteller. So if I had a say in this, which I don’t, I’d give her whatever she wants.”

Maybe I have shit taste, but I honestly think the only really good season of Futurama was the first and maybe second one(s).
Season 1 was about an everyman exploring a crazy future and was permeated by a sense of awe and alienation. Unfortunately, it very quickly transformed into a show about a colossal idiot doing comically stupid things in a mundane world that is exactly like the present day except with random sci-fi references. So instead of neat gags about future society, like the suicide booths or the moon being a tourist trap, you just have a wacky idiot running away from a (robot) mafioso or a (robot) policeman or whatever.
The seasons after this started to feel more forced and childish in their humor, more - dare I say - "Reddit"-type humor. The parts in the later seasons where, say, the professor gets naked, zoidberg gets a gun and makes "pew pew" noises, or general pac-man dies and his wife comforts him - to me, that's lolrandom humor, or Reddit/meme humor.
