Critics v The General Public

Yet another film where the critics and general publics opinion are in stark contrast.
Who and why should you trust either one of them. Why should a critics opinion be any more valid than the general publics ? Sure a critic might have a more refined taste, but thats the problem, opinions cannot be factual. A movie is designed at its core to be a break for 2hrs and to sit back, watch something and enjoy yourself. Its not meant to be lifechanging.
Yes I agree the general public can have the combined IQ of a ham-sandwich, but honestly, do you people really think that aligning your tastes to reflect that of the "movie critic elite" somehow makes you a better person in the eyes of people on the internet ?
It seems the more critics reviews you read they are trying to applaud themselves for being the only person to make a smart remark, or quip at the films expense, when in reality it just makes them sound like a jumped up faggot.
