>"They were going, 'You can't have a black person on the cover, and you can't have a woman. And you want a black woman.' And I was like, 'Yes, I do, because it's about be whatever hero you want.' [According to McCormack, Microsoft said] 'No. It's a white guy. That's just the way it is. We know what sells and that's f**king it. Stop the arguing.' I was like, 'F**k you!' That was a huge fight."
>"They said, 'What's the most unsuccessful Disney film? I was like, 'I don't know.' They went, 'Princess and the Frog. Work it out.' I was like, "F**k you, man.' I hated it."
>McComack went on to say that Microsoft "missed the point" of Fable III overall by putting a traditional-looking, male hero on the cover.
>"I was screaming at them in conference calls," he said. "I lost it at that point, because they just weren't getting the game. Especially because we were the first ever game that had gay marriage, we were about breaking down walls. It was meant to be funny and mature. They just took none of it and just did the usual white guy with a sword on the front. Damn it! You missed the point!"

Mighty No. 9 mighty signs of failure

So this blunder apparently hasn't in fact entirely imploded yet but is still shambling along zombie like. I fell for the /v/ hypetrain and gave them $20 so I'm on the lists, but personally entirely wrote them off by the end of that year, and when the game footage came out decided I didn't even want it polluting my steam list or anything else. I get the mails though and there is actually a response "Deadline" approaching now for picking a platform, which they've been getting shriller about for a few weeks now. I'm apparently not alone, a few excerpts:
>REMINDER: PLATFORM SURVEY DEADLINE APPROACHING!
>As of this week, all of our backers who are eligible for a digital copy of Mighty No. 9 should have received their platform selection survey in the mail.
>As of 5/22 we had only received completed surveys from around 70% of our backers.
>We have noticed an issue where some users have not received this survey mail or any other recent surveys because they had chosen to ‘opt out’ of any future surveys from our account. If you have previously opted out of our survey mails, we are effectively blocked from sending any messages to your address.
LOL. So a good third of backers think this is such a turd they're actively uninterested even having paid for it even though it'll ship. I've never even heard of a such a high percentage for a KS game, backers tend to be the most fanatical and most want to at least run it once to see what they paid for. People rightfully called 3.3 a blunder, but most backers seemed alright with what eventually shipped it just took far too long and wasn't as full as they'd thought.
