So a big Nintendo fan (and by big, I mean fat) is making the argument that the Pro controller will more or less be mandatory if you want a comfortable experience playing Zelda BotW. And as BotW is the only reason to own a Switch for the next 6 months, it seems like this is a pretty big deal, as it essentially increases the necessary investment cost from $360 to $430 (before tax)
The reasoning is the R-stick placement being directly below the action buttons. Now, I've personally pointed this problem out MONTHS ago, after the reveal trailer to be precise, as there is a fundamental ergonomic problem in having the R-stick directly below the action buttons. And I was called a shitposter.
But this guy is actually a Nintendo fan who has had tons of hands-on experience with the Switch, the joy-cons, the joy-con grip and the Pro controller, and he's making the exact same argument. Yes, it "works", but it's very awkward in a game that relies heavily on camera movement, a game like Zelda. So you really want the Pro controller unless you're content with a very awkward experience.
This of course is all a result of the gimmicky-as-shit joy-con paddles being designed to be shared between two players, which is also why there's no real D-pad.
Thoughts? Will you be getting a Pro controller? Or are you happy with awkward controls?
