>joel has his own hit detection. if you get shot in the left arm, he would hold his injured arm with his right hand and also loose constantly blood. you definitely have to treat the wound immediately because of the constantly loss of health and the screen would turn red. in order to stop losing health, you have to get the bullet out of the wound, disinfect it with alcohol or antiseptic and bind the wound. all by holding the r1 button one by one. the process to get the bullet out of the wound is not presented realistically, it would be too bloody and brutal.
>if you get shot in the right arm (joel is right-hander) you have of course make sure to treat the wound like described above with the left arm. but after that, you can't just take out your shotgun immediately and shoot like nothing has happened before. you arm still hurts so if you aim with a heavy weapon like the shotgun or an assault rifle, your crosshair moves all over the place. you don't have 100% control over the aiming. to shoot respectably with an injured right arm, you have to switch to a smaller gun like the pistol.

In modern video games and especially action and shooting games, enemies are thrown at you like there's no tomorrow, and by the end of the game, you single handedly killed a fucking army of people. After a while, you don't even care anymore and just "shoot the enemies till they die". Then either wait for your health to replenish or use a medikit, and you're ready for the next massacre of generic bad guys.
I wish someone would make a game where every single encounter is tense as fuck, memorable and unique. I imagine in real life a shootout with a couple of people on both sides could easily last a few hours, with both sides trying to flank and where a single wrong move could lead to death. Also, IRL, you don't have a stash of ammo hidden in your pockets like in video games, I assume you have to make every shot count, manually check how many bullets you have, and reloading takes time and you can't just reload every time you use a single bullet like in video games (I do that all the time). And finally, you can't kill an enemy by shooting him multiple times in the leg, this shit is retarded, plain and simple.
And when you run out of ammo, it's stealth/melee time, or try to run away (same thing goes for the enemy, if they have no ammo, and you have, they might want to stealth you or run away).
Is there any game this realistic?
