Only Pixar movies win Academy awards, Ralph. And your movie, sir, was not a Pixar movie.

It will never happen! Because it's just a kids movie about video game characters without any positive messages for girls.

Brave was shit, total shit, it deserved to lose to both Ralph, and PARANORMAN

My post from another thread

The whole film of Paranorman deals with prejudice

Norman's uncle living a recluse, norman living a recluse, everyone judging him without knowing him.

Then the thing with the witch and the zombies, and finding out the zombies were the old towns people that burned her at the stake because they judged her without knowing her, and they let their fears govern they actions.

And then the townspeople getting over their prejudice that the zombies are not there to kill them, they are just cursed people looking for peace

And then he confronts the witch, and shows her that in her anger she became what they feared, and how she had turned into them, cause it gave her pleasure to cause them pain and suffering, and norman helps her find peace, and that she can let go of the hatred

And then -just- as the movie is closing, finding out the jock brother is homosexual, and because of the entire movies showing of how prejudice is wrong, everyone in the crowd took a -SECOND- to get over their prejudice and not hold him being homosexual against him

In short, the best To Kill a Mockingbrid since To Kill a Mockingbird

Except they weren't just wrong, they committed logical fallacies in the process, which was only made worse by the breadth of popular philosophical and religious thought that derives from them. Holding them as paragons of logic is kind of a cop out.

Russell's 'A History of Western Philosophy' explores it quite well.

What a fucking joke.
Slap some feminist propaganda in your incredibly dull animated film and suddenly it's oscar worthy.

For once DaS clearly pulls ahead of Pixar in terms of quality, but they still don't get recognized for it. Paranorman deserved it a bit more probably, but Smash it Sam still deserved it a thousand times more than the dogshit that was Brave.

I sure am excited for Monsters Inc 2: Electric boogaloo prequel addition to win over Disney's Frozen despite Pixar movies being terrible lately.

Any example?
If it's something really fundamental or sacred in their times' thought, like god for Pascal, it's almost expected that there'll be some workarounds to shove it in there. That doesn't necessarily make it a logical fallacy, just that they can't discard the notion, out of belief, or respect for the sacredness of it. Plato's Ideas where an almost sacred notion for him, they're sort of pure essences of the world, and he wouldn't have discarded them just because of a little inconsistency here or there, but most likely would've found a way around it. That doesn't make everything else they said wrong, and that chart seems pretty accurate.

They consider wit and "poor mans comedy" to be childish garbage and will pick anything that grasps a message hard and shoves it down the publics throat.

That said, Brave was Great, Ralph was Great, Norman was great. In all honesty I think Brave won not only for the judge pandering, but because Pixar is pretty much a shoe in when they don't do something considered assinine (Cars 2)

The animations were about equal.
The pacing was a thousand times better.
The message was much more interesting and wasn't pandering to a specific group.
The characters were actually likable.
The voice acting was good.
The emotional moments actually hit hard, where as Brave's just felt like they were kind of forced in.

And most importantly, WiR never nearly put me to sleep. I knew Brave was terrible when I found myself expending energy to keep my eyes open.

If your movie's message is pro feminism you instantly boost your likeliness of winning above much of your competition, because then you're pandering to half of the judges, and the other half will feel awkward if they don't vote for you because they're afraid of being called sexist.

Also a movie that solely relies on a stereotypical story which is bursting with pop culture video game references doesnt deserve an Oscar for that. I just read that it got NOMINATED, so whats the fucking problem? That should be an honor enough.

And that's what he was aiming for, and he succeeded -PERFECTLY-

Alice in Wonderland was a fucking -TERRIFYING- series of books, the things Alice comes across is fucking -SCARY- at all fucking times. Even the Dumms in the book are fucking hyper creepy.

Not even close. The themes weren't even close either. Literally the only thing that was similar was a main character with a sense of optimism exploring the world.
I don't think I've ever seen a movie with the idea of Big Fish, that the story is almost always more important than the reality (such is the nature of perception), and that truth rings through even the boldest lies.
Forrest Gump also had nothing to do with a child unable to accept his parent.

They shouldn't have ruined it with a sequel and cartoon though. I hate that whenever they do something right they need to milk it for all its worth

Not really, it's a simulation. The wrote new techniques from the ground up, but the concepts are all there. And they do this inbetween movies, researchers are on it full time. And once it's done, it's just a matter of tweaking it. I'm not saying it's easy, but it's not harder or more time-consuming than the rest. Visual development is the same kind of thing, tweaking and testing, it may seem time-consuming because it's iterative but it's no different than the rest. Animation is quicker because it has to be, because there's so much frames, and there's no ground to be broken here.

Stayed too close to the books? He turned the fucking things into Lord of the Rings Lite. Hair was created by Dreamworks by taking a shader system and extending it to make hair follicles. This was easier to do then creating polygons

Industrial Light and Magic improved on this by adding physics to hair

Pixar then got their hands on it, from there I don't know what they did

Right, just like WiR was boring and empty, shit, they barely were in more than one game. It was shallow and they never explored any of the characters really, and it featured one of the most rehashed stories of all time "Bad guy going good guy". I loved WiR, but that's kind of how you sound
I mean, Brave featured some great voice acting, some hilarious accents and jokes about that, as well as a plot that isn't overused.
And no, a witch turning her mother into a fucking bear is not an overused plot. Bad guy turning good however, is.
>>178233821
Yeah, the most overused plot in animated movies is "Princess NOT wanting to be a princess but an archer, as well as witches turning queens into bears.
It was a spin of the normal princess movie, and I loved every second of it. Hell, it hade me laughing in tears more than WiR.

Ok, I want you to tell me how its not hyperbole

Right now

Your post

"The jabberwocky was vaguely comical"

My post

"Yes a hideous dragon that eats the people of wonderland and sends all the inhabitants of wonderland running for their lives, and is constantly hunting down Alice as she searches for her kidnapped parents HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH FUCKING HILARIOUS"

Look at that REALLY carefully, and tell me how its not hyperbole, when it clearly shows:

1.
obvious and intentional exaggeration.

2.
an extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally, as “to wait an eternity.”

Read the description of Hyperbole a dozen times if you have to, but tell me how my statement was not hyperbole

It'd be weird if each individual character that was the same could develop different personalities. Say, if a different Turbo Time cabinet got plugged in sometime in the future and it turns out this new Turbo is actually a pretty chill bro.

He was saying that my view of the Wonderland stories being dark was false, and that the series was quite cheerful, and then he brought up the jabberwocky as comical, when it was anything but.

If he was attempting to use hyperbole its supposed to be obvious, repeat, obvious you are doing it, otherwise it is taken for the statement it appears as

Well, as you claimed in another post the "hyperbole" part of your post being "HAHAHAHAHAHAH FUCKING HILARIOUS".

1. Obvious and intentional exaggeration.
I see none of that in "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA FUCKING HILARIOUS", all I see is a retard using his shift key in a stupid manner.
2. An extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally, as “to wait an eternity.”
Again, "HAHAHAHAHAHA FUCKING HILARIOUS" does not fit into this category either.

A proper hyperbole would've been
>Yes a hideous dragon that eats the people of wonderland and sends all the inhabitants of wonderland running for their lives, and is constantly hunting down Alice as she searches for her kidnapped parents is hilarious, I mean, why haven't people thought of this before? Imagine if they replaced Daffy Duck with the jabberwocky, people would literally die of laughing so much"

And that's not even a good hyperbole.
