Out of the entire selection of starters from each generation, post your favorite starter for grass/fire/water. For the sake of not making this thread completely pointless, leave at least a brief explanation as to why it's your favorite of the five.
I'll get the ball rolling-
I didn't really care for any of the 4th gen starters on first glance, Piplup was too "girly" and Turtwig was a bit "dopey," so I just went with Chimchar for the typing. I lost my copy of Pearl somewhere along the line so I bought a copy of Diamond and picked Turtwig to change things up. I eventually fell in love with Turtwig and thought Torterra was one of the coolest things ever, probably my second favorite final evo starter as far as design goes.
Then there's Charmander. As a kid I was in love with stuff like dinosaurs and Godzilla, so I pretty much bought Pokemon Red because Charizard was on the cover. I wouldn't use him in competitive play because he kinda blows, but he's still my favorite starter for sentimental reason and easily earns a spot in my top five.
As for Mudkip, on my first playthrough I thought he was really cute so I picked him. Then he turned into this vicious water monster immune to electricity. He pretty much dominated the singleplayer for me, and while the other third gen starters were pretty awesome as well, Mudkip/Swampert stuck with me for whatever reason.
